Our sister company, Perciforms, is the first in the world to grow Sablefish. aka Black Cod, in an indoor Recirculating System. Sablefish was selected due to its high fat content, great flavor, high demand, and limited wild production.
The first post larvae were introduced to the system in late spring 2016. A small batch of baby black cod were harvested early to test the quality and texture of the meat. Perciforms scientists are carefully testing various feed and farming practices to develop the optimum growing environenment for the species.
Optimum growing conditions minimize stress in the fish. Stress free fish grow faster, stay healthy without antibiotics, and taste better.
